The city council said there had been an increase in complaints of arson, vandalism and fly-tipping connected with the derelict buildings.
While it can demand owners rectify some of these problems, officers felt this took so long, new issues sprang up.
It is now urging the owners of the nine highlighted premises to take constructive action in the near future.
'Do something'
Barrie James from the council said: "I don't think it is the council's responsibility to go around cleaning up after private individuals or companies.
"They have to take responsibility for their own premises, they have made the conscious decision to leave these properties empty so it shouldn't be the council's job to clean them up."
He added: "The worry is the problem they create for the communities around them.
"If the brewery decides to bring them back into use then that is not a problem but our message is do something with them and do it quickly."
Admiral Taverns which own Potters, in Bestwood Park, one of the pubs targeted, has so far been unavailable for comment. |
