Property News - Pub Sale Price Slashed |
| The price of The Royal Oak public house in Belper has been slashed by more than £100,000 in a bid to attract a buyer. The pub on Mill Street, which had been on the market for months with a price tag of £275,000, has attracted strong interest from entrepreneurs and property developers, but so far the price has put them off.The venue has now been reduced to just £160,000."In the light of comments made by several interested parties, we have decided to halve the price of The Royal Oak public house," said London-based licensed property agent Mark Greig, managing director of Paramount Investments.Mr Greig said he hoped the price cut would secure the future of The Royal Oak as a pub. He added: "Falling property prices are creating tremendous bargains within the UK pub market for licensees who know they can respond to the challenges facing the modern trade.""There has never been a better time to buy a freehold pub.To pick up a pub like this at such a price represents a terrific opportunity - for the right kind of publican."To be able to go in to this business knowing your initial costs have been cut by £115,000 makes the pub a much more profitable proposition."
